Abstract:

An Introduction to HyperSpy: the multi-dimensional data analysis toolbox

HyperSpy is an open source Python library, providing tools to facilitate the interactive data analysis of multi-dimensional datasets, originating from almost any sort of instrumentation. In this session, we will provide an interactive introduction and demonstration on the basics of HyperSpy, and provide examples of how we use the software in our daily work at NIST. Among the topics covered were:

  • Introduction to the design philosophy of the HyperSpy project
  • Installation and getting your data in/out
  • Examples of X-ray energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) analysis
  • Examples of electron energy-loss spectroscopy (EELS) analysis
  • How HyperSpy can be extended to meet specific experimental needs
