This talk was given at the Celebration of Microscopy and Microanalysis event in Gaithersburg, MD. The event was held at NIST, and sponsored by the Microanalysis Society in honor of Dale Newbury’s 70th birthday. I was asked to fill in for a speaker that could not attend to share my thoughts on the future directions of microscopy and microanalysis as well as some of my work in the realm of computational microscopy.
